Convenient Inconvenience

31st december 2009

How wrong I was about India! I still haven’t seen the place, so I guess I’ll have to wait til next time. Why so? Well, I didn’t know that you couldn’t get a visa on arrival, plus the fact that I couldn’t rebook my ticket, because it was a group ticket. All these things in mind, it resulted in the only possibility to India being 5 days later for 1000 euro. So that was a no go.

But I was lucky on an unlucky day; as soon as I realized I wasn’t going to have a warm winter, I went on calling people to see if I could get to Bad Antogast somehow someway. A guy who took my laptop for safe keeping went on the internet to hook me up with a ride going to Offenburg, and 10 minutes later he gave me a call to confirm. Very nice and all, but imagine my excitement when it actually turned out to be an Art of Living teacher that I had met in Berlin! What are the chances?

Nothing happens without a reason, and this little event was definitely no coincidence whatsoever. My first plan was to see if I could do a part 3 course, but this turned out to be too expensive around this time of year. So then I decided to just stay for seva, which was not a bad thing at all.

Bad Antogast is a busy place around christmas and new year’s eve. I could barely move! It was full of people and I was full time working in the kitchen, to make food for hundreds. It was a tough, but at the same time fun job; many different dishes, and it’s just cool to cook en masse, with the huge pans and stuff. A lot of folks from YWC were there, because Guruji wanted YWC to do seva in this week. It’s been a great experience so far.

Tonight it was new year’s eve, and we celebrated with a very nice dinner, cake, and even some fireworks! A great atmosphere, but then again that’s not a change from the usual around here. With so many people from so many different countries it’s really evident that you belong to everyone. Yet at the same time I still miss Iva; how nice it would’ve been to be with her tonight! We can’t have it all, so better to just appreciate what you get.

I’ve also been working on a new song. I got the idea some time ago, but it was not so easy to work it out musically; I think I made like 4 different melodies before I actually got it right. But the result is there, I’m really happy with the new beat, and the lyrics are strong and razor sharp if I say so myself. I’m really starting to get good at this, but I’ll not rest until I can do it all. The dreams are big, so something has to be done, but my ambition fuels me like a jet engine that gives wings to a plane.

Anyway, enough with the poetry; it’s late and I’m tired. Good night everyone, I wish you all a forthcoming 2010, with lots of smiles and joy. Think of what you want to achieve, write it down, and make it happen. For me it’s finishing my first album, living with Iva together in Amsterdam, and organizing a big Yes+ course.

A little bit of everything, those are the best meals.
