Dresden, definitely a nice city. Old, artistic, authentic, hospitable, innovative. Oh and among all the posh words it's also the place where you can find one of the best doner places in Germany! Not that that matters a lot to me, since I eat mostly raw food, but still. However, yesterday after a night of going out I couldn't resist to have a late night snack in the form of a delicious durum fatma aka vegetarian wrap with potatoes, cheese, and falafel: Yummy!
Anyway, Dresden is also a pain in the ass. Opposite values are complementary, so I have to complain a bit too. Yea so a pain in the ass, why? Well, first off it's cold! But that's not really what I meant. No, what I mean is that I'm having a hard time organizing Yes+ here. I'm getting very little support from the volunteers, I can't get the Yes+ group motivated into coming together, and not many people show up for the mini-yoga workshops.
Let's analyze, what's the deal? In the end it's all my fault anyway, cause I'm responsible, but I want to know what I can do to make it happen. There must be some people out there in this city that are waiting for something amazing like Yes+ to cross their paths, no doubt about it. So where are those people? How to find them? I can say for one that it'll be easier to find them with my eyes closed. In the end, it's all state of mind, so I'm bound to meet these people sooner or later.
But in this world we work with dates and times, schedules and appointments. The course is on the 28th, which is next thursday, and then there must be some people ready to rock, else it cannot happen. I don't care if they all sign up on the last day, or even the last minute, as long as they do. The problem is that most people are just very preoccupied with themselves; they're so busy thinking about their own stuff, that they ironically completely lose track of themselves.
How can you lose track of yourself when you're thinking about yourself? Simple, because the thought of themself is not who they are, it's just an illusion. I met this guy the other day who seemed like a perfect canditate for Yes+; open minded, a bit insecure, trying to find himself amongst all the chaos in his life. Don't get me wrong; Yes+ is not just designed for depressed people, it's for people who know there is more to life than society makes us believe, but at the same time want to learn some practical things about life. Basically, it's for everyone, it's just that it takes some time to realize.
So I told this guy about meditation and my free workshops, and he said he would think about it. It's this stupid "maybe-attitude" that doesn't get you anywhere, but let's not side track. He then told me (since he's christian) that according to his religion, meditation can be dangerous because it gets you into contact with demons, and there are no such thing as angels. No such thing as angels? I'm in a relationship with one! But other than that, I was just really astonished by the brainwashing that takes place in this church in particular. I mean who told you that? And you buy it?
I replied that religion destroys spirituality, and that religion is an unimportant aspect of life because it's just a shell. I also said that (quoting Immortal Technique) hell is not a place you go when you're not a christian, but the failure of your life's greatest ambition (this guy spits good shit, definitely worth checking out if you can handle an angry pita boy). That seemed to resonate, who knows, maybe I'll see him coming. Would be really cool! I sincerely wish everyone this experience, people need to understand I'm not here out of self interest. Freezing my ass off flyering, and not getting paid, why would I do that? And that is not a question for me cuz I know why I do that.
The paradox of Yes+ is that the people who have done it are most likely to say yes again. It's this 'yes-mind' that is so important. I'm getting so tired of hearing maybe. Seriously I'm gonna charge double on maybe's in my course. 1 Euro for each maybe, should get us a nice afternoon eating cakes in the café around the corner. Indeed, knowledge IS sweet!
